WWTP (Wastewater Treatment Plant) and WTP (Water Treatment Plant)
The Araçás WWTP (Wastewater Treatment Plant), located in Vila Velha, is a project by the Government of the State of Espírito Santo and CESAN – Espírito Santo Sanitation Company, carried out by Agis.
The construction began in 2022 and, at its peak, employed over 300 direct workers. The plant was inaugurated last weekend.
It is the largest WWTP in the state, with a treatment capacity of 900 liters of wastewater per second.
In addition to generating jobs, boosting the local economy, and introducing new technologies to the sanitation sector, the WWTP will bring significant positive impacts to the region—such as improved water quality, reduced pollution of water bodies, and enhanced environmental preservation.
Due to the excellence in the execution of the Araçás WWTP, Agis has also taken on a new project in the region: the construction of the Caçaroca WTP (Water Treatment Plant), which will treat 1,500 liters of water per second. It will be one of the largest WTPs in the state and will supply a large part of the city of Vila Velha, the second most populous city in Espírito Santo.
